More Than Music 

She sings, she writes, she produces, she is Lo Carter….Hailing from Atlanta, GA, this multi-talented southern belle enjoys writing and singing about the wonders of love, life, and intimate experiences. A blend of Soul and R&B, she puts pen to pad and lets the words and melodies come from deep within. Her influences are Sarah Vaughn, Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight, Mary J. Blige, and Erykah Badu.  

 

She has performed throughout the southeast, east coast and mid-west United States. Her hard work and determination afforded her the opportunity to open for R&B/Soul sensation Anthony Hamilton in 2008 and R&B crooner Christopher Williams in 2012. While a member of the Joe Johnson Band, she had the privilege of backing great R&B vocalists like Angela Winbush, Chrisette Michelle, Chante Moore, Howard Hewett, and more.  

 

In 2012, Lo Carter was nominated for five Nashville Independent Music Awards including Album of the Year and Best Live R&B performer(s), winning Artist of the Year and Best R&B Female Solo artist. And in March of 2013, Lo was named the 10th Annual SEA Awards ‘Slept on Artist of the Year.’   

 

Lo Carter continues to give back to the community by participating in charitable benefits, assisting Nashville music educators in community student programs, teaching music, researching effective ways to improve and progress multicultural music education and more. She lends her vocal coaching skills to aspiring youth and “young at heart” via community workshops, directing church choirs, and providing private lessons. She also consistently works with local community organizations promoting and planning artistic community events through her new business venture, Lo Carter Music.
