In 1966 the superstar folk group, The New Christy Minstrels, traveled the world singing their hits like "Green Green" and "Today". Mike Settle, Terry Williams and Kenny Rogers were all members that broke away and formed their own group, The First Edition.

The next decade brought the kind of success most artists dream about capped by 6 top 10 records including "Just Dropped In", "But You Know I Love You", "Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town", "Tell It All Brother" and "Something's Burning". The First Edition appeared on every major talk and variety show of the time like The Ed Sullivan Show, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour 4-times, The Tonight Show 5-times, Rowan and Martin's Laugh In, The Dean Martin Show, Andy Williams, Merv Griffin, Red Skelton, Johnny Cash 4-times, not to mention their own CBS Television variety series, "Rollin On The River".

The group broke up in 1975, but remain good friends today. In August of 2014 Kenny invited The First Edition to the Country Music Hall of Fame for a special pre-view of his "Through The Years" exhibition which the First Edition is a large part of. At the dinner that evening Kenny had the group stand and recognized them as such a huge part of his musical life.

Today, a few old friends, who happen to be part of The First Edition, are coming together to show their support for The Muscular Dystrophy Association.

“We are honored to be a part of the MORE THAN MUSIC BENEFIT CONCERT that will help so many children and adults living with muscle disease. We hope you will join us October 28th at 3rd & Lindsley, in Nashville, Tn.”
