Makky Kaylor

Makky Kaylor joins More Than Music MDA Benefit Concert Muscular Dystrophy Makky Kaylor

Hundreds of song demos brought to life by the voice of Nashville session singer Makky Kaylor have filled the air in offices up and down famed Music Row for some time now. Makky earned the role of an A-list “go-to” lead vocalist for many of the most successful songwriters in the music industry, including legendary tunesmiths Harlan Howard, Wayland Holyfield, Randy Goodrum, Tom Snow and more. When writers wanted their newly created songs recorded with just the right combination of the native Memphian's smooth southern soul and subtle sophistication, Makky delivered. Amassing countless studio hours singing writers’ demo recordings as well as his own songs, Makky also sang hundreds of commercial jingles, effectively selling everything from Blue Diamond Almonds® to Williams Sausage to the Methodist Church to The Grand Ole Opry, solidifying his reputation as a respected Nashville studio vocalist. It is no wonder that Makky literally wrote the book on session singing, Confessions of a Session Singer, published and distributed worldwide by Hal Leonard Publishing. As one writer stated, Makky is “always in tune, with an authentic, heartfelt tear in his voice.”

Makky's new album and live show, A LITTLE SENTIMENTAL, celebrate the classic Nashville Sound of the 1950s and 1960s, but takes an invigorating, slightly sophisticated approach to country music, harkening back to a more romantic era in music. A LITTLE SENTIMENTAL is “dress up and take your baby to town music,” Makky beams. It is a wonderful, historic foundation of southern music with a fresh coat of paint applied by a gifted artist, Makky Kaylor, along with some of Nashville's most elite musicians.

As one of the integral fibers in the fabric that strengthens the glitz of Nashville music from the inside out, this humble, hard-working man of music has not only recorded for most of his life, but Makky also has written and performed to critical acclaim, earning accolades from large audiences. He has appeared numerous times on national television networks from GAC to RFD to The Hallmark Channel, and received standing ovations at the world-famous Ryman Auditorium and other concert halls and venues around the country. From 2007 through 2008, he had a starring role in the $15 million musical, The Miracle, in the Great Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. Makky’s songs have been recorded by an array of artists from country's John Conlee to TV's Jim Nabors to gospel's Larnelle Harris to Grammy®-winner Larry Gatlin. Gatlin’s duet with Makky is featured on Christmastime with the Gatlins - Live from the Ryman. With his latest project, A LITTLE SENTIMENTAL, Makky delivers a refreshing experience audiences will relish.
